Mtandao Afrika 2006 finals
Written by Matrich on 7th February, 2007
Wow!! It is really wonderful and exciting that my team for the 2006 Mtandao Afrika (MAf) competition has again made it to the finals. I just received an email from the Program Coordinator, Amr that our team had made it to the finals and I am really GRATEFULLY TO GOD ALMIGHTY who enabled me and my team make it to the finals. Making it to the finals gives us an air ticket to go and participate in the MAf Youth Camp which is scheduled for 2nd to 6th March, 2007 in Cairo, Egypt.
You can’t believe it but this is my second time to make it there. In 2003, I participated as a student in the competition and my team made it to the finals where we won the Platinum Award in the Interdisciplinary category.
However, this time round I participated as a coach for my team as I felt need to pass on my skills which I had acquired so that other students can benefit. My team created a resource entitled “Deforestation: African Resources in Decline” which was translated in six languages including the famous Luganda.
The intention of our website was to:
“Deforestation: African Resources in Decline” is an educational site targeted at making learning easier for high school students and educators or simply people who are concerned about our environment and would like to learn more about deforestation. A one-stop information site which makes e-learning fun and wholesome and providing an oracle of knowledge and learning experiences.
I really would like to thank my teammates i.e. Abdel Rahman El-Zohairy, Mohamed Katri, Nermeen Amr, Allan Kakinda and the fellow coach Mohamed Ossama for the great work that they put up and surely, I believe we achieved our goal.
Aaah!! why even wait, just go and visit the website we created so that you believe for yourself at http://library2006.mtandao-afrika.net/MAF060247/
PS: I will be letting you know of the proceedings at the MAf Youth Camp so keep your eyes open here. By the way, I would like to know what you think about our entry (website), please feel free to leave a comment about it after visiting it.
