In just three days to go, everyone in the world will be celebrating the BIRTH OF JESUS, the most incredible baby born ever since. Already I hear a lot of songs, hymns, videos playing about this child on the streets, homes etc… A lot of people exchange gifts, cards etc (Sorry if you haven’t). You might be wondering why that excitement among people about the birth of one child and it is certainly right that His Birth causes excitement among all man kind.
A lot of people celebrate His Birth even though it was certainly more than 2000 years ago and there have been very many other people who were born however, Jesus is a special one not only that he was born of a virgin. One of the greatest was that He was a conqueror. He didn’t fight in war not even led an army BUT HE CONQUERED DEATH WHEN HE DIED ON THE CROSS FOR OUR SINS AND ROSE AGAIN.
He had so much love for human kind that He performed so many miracles for us (humans) to believe. Many people who saw him even never believe then. However, the greatest of His love was when He gave up His life for our sake. I have heard a lot of people claiming that they love us BUT I have never seen any of them died for someone’s else sake. Even just when you get broke or when you get in to a problem, most of those who claim to be your friends, disappear BUT Jesus gave up His life for our sake.
That makes Him so extraordinary. He died for our sins and then He rose again. He therefore conquered death so that we no longer have to fear death. The Bible in Romans 3:23 says that
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
As it says, everyone on earth has sinned and we don’t only sin against ourselves but also against our friends, the church and God. And also the Bible in Romans 6:23 says that
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
And this means that since we are sinners, we shall have to die as a punishment to our sins.
However, thanks to the Birth of Jesus Christ who came and died for our sins. We no longer have to worry about our sins and our death, He came and paid the punishment on our behalf. When he conquered death, as long as we have believed in Him, then we have also conquered death with Him.
Many people have gotten excuses of not believing in Him, others are trying to do good etc. But all in all, the God we are talking about a righteous perfect God. Even if you tried doing good as long as you do something wrong, then you are not perfect. Since it is not possible to be as perfect as God, the Bible in John 14:6 says that
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
I challenge you today that as you celebrate this Christmas 2007 that you allow Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Saviour. It doesn’t matter whether you have ever killed a person, or you have been adulterous, or just told a lie, all sins are sins and you surely need Jesus. The Bible in John 10:10 says that
“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”
. He loves us all and He needs to take control of your life. If you’ve made up your mind, then please pray this prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, I accept that I am a sinner and I have sinned against you. I believe that You were born to save human kind. I believe you died for me on the cross and you rose from the dead. Forgive me of all my sins and cleanse me now with Your precious blood that You shed on the Cross. Come into my heart and save me right now. I receive You now as my Savior, my Lord and my God from today and forever. I choose to turn away from my sins and I pray that I start to grow spiritually under Your Grace and Mercy. Amen!
If you did pray that prayer, I would like to officially welcome you to God’s family. Angels are rejoicing in Heaven because of that the decision you’ve taken. God has surely heard your prayer and you should forget all about your past. I urge you to buy a Bible because It contains God’s message and Word and also get a Church where you will spiritually grow. If you said that prayer, I know this Christmas will be very great for you.
To the rest of you, I really wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS 2007. I hope you will really enjoy this CHRISTMAS as you reflect on Jesus’ BIRTH and HIS LIFE for you.
